Privacy Policy

The Short Version (Plain English)

  • The tags you create are stored strictly on your phone.
  • We operate no accounts, no remote user servers, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking cookies. We never receive your data.
  • Your camera is accessed exclusively when you scan peer-to-peer share QR codes directly on your device. No images are recorded or transmitted.
  • The app connects to the internet only to open or call web addresses that you explicitly configured.

1. Who We Are & Scope

SmartLink NFC (“the app”, “our application”) is developed and maintained by KMA SoftTech (OPC) Pvt Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”), a software engineering enterprise.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

When you create, save, or write an NFC tag, SmartLink NFC saves the tag data exclusively within the app’s sandboxed private storage on your mobile phone so you can reference, duplicate, or edit it later. Depending on the action you choose, this local information may contain:

  • Tag Title & Category: Labels assigned to identify your tag.
  • Payload Data: Web URLs, contact phone numbers, pre-filled SMS messages, email addresses, geographic coordinates, or local app package names.
  • Wi-Fi Credentials: Network SSIDs and passwords you choose to embed for Wi-Fi tags.
  • Usage Counters: Local counters tracking how many times you have written or executed the tag.

This information remains solely on your physical device. We do not operate external databases that ingest this data. It is never transmitted to KMA SoftTech servers or third parties.

3. How the App Uses Device Features & Permissions

To deliver its NFC automation features, SmartLink NFC requests standard operating system capabilities:

Near Field Communication (NFC)

Used to read tag contents, format tags, and write payloads to physical chips (NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216) when you initiate an interaction.

Camera Permission

Used solely when you tap Scan to read an ephemeral tag share code generated by another nearby device. Visual frames are processed locally and discarded immediately. No photographs or recordings are ever saved to local storage or uploaded anywhere. You can deny camera access and continue using all NFC tag writing features.

Installed Applications List

When you build an “Open App” tag shortcut, the app queries your device’s application manager to display your available apps. This list is evaluated on-device in real-time and is never collected or synced.

Clipboard Access

Used strictly when you tap Paste to insert copied URLs or text. For Wi-Fi tags, the password is copied to the clipboard to assist in pasting directly into OS Wi-Fi settings.

Internet Access

The application triggers web links or background webhook calls strictly to the destinations you specify. These network requests route directly from your device to the target server—they do not pass through KMA SoftTech proxy servers.

4. Sharing Tags (Peer-to-Peer QR)

SmartLink NFC includes an offline tag sharing feature that encodes tag parameters into an on-screen QR code. Because this code directly contains the chosen tag’s data (including Wi-Fi credentials if embedded), anyone who photographs or scans that code can import the tag. Only display share codes to individuals you trust.

5. Operating System Backups

If automated cloud device backup (such as Google One / Android Backup or Apple iCloud Backup) is active on your device, the operating system may include the app’s internal local storage in your encrypted account backup. This process is operated exclusively by your OS provider according to your personal cloud settings, which you can adjust in your phone’s system settings at any time.

6. What We Do NOT Do

  • No Data Sales or Commercialization: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or broker user data.
  • No Advertisements: The application contains zero ad SDKs, banner networks, or behavioral trackers.
  • No Third-Party Analytics: We do not integrate surveillance SDKs, session recording tools, or telemetry trackers.
  • No Accounts Required: You never need to supply your name, email, or credentials to use the application.

Note: Google Play and Apple App Store, as distribution platforms, may gather basic aggregated installation counts and diagnostic crashes under their respective platform privacy terms.

7. Data Retention & User Choices

  • Deleting Individual Tags: Navigate to the Saved tab inside SmartLink NFC, swipe left on any tag item, and tap Delete.
  • Erasing All Data: Clear the app’s local data within your Android/iOS system settings, or uninstall the app. Doing so immediately purges all saved tags from your hardware.
  • Revoking Permissions: You can revoke Camera or other permissions at any moment via device Settings.

Because KMA SoftTech does not receive or host your data, we possess no copies to delete on our end.

8. Security Considerations

Your saved tags are stored securely within the operating system’s app sandbox, isolating them from other applications. Remember that physical NFC stickers written with non-encrypted NDEF payloads can be read by any compatible smartphone brought within close physical proximity. Avoid writing highly confidential credentials to stickers placed in publicly accessible locations.

9. Children’s Privacy

SmartLink NFC is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly solicit or collect information from children.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect future software enhancements or evolving legal standards. Any revisions will be published at this stable URL (/smartlink-nfc/privacy/) along with the updated effective date.
